Fundraisers
Whether you want to host a charity ball, collect funds for a cause, or just raise money for pizza at your meetings, student organizations are welcome to fundraise on campus.
Approval
All on-campus fundraising must be approved through our office beforehand. Have your president or primary contact submit an online request form three weeks in advance through the ORG database. We’ll look it over and get back to you within three weekdays.
A few things will require additional approval from other campus departments. The two most common are:
- Bake sales (or anything involving food)—any time you’re serving food on campus for a fundraiser, you have to contact the University Sanitarian for a food permit. Visit http://ehs.missouri.edu/food/ for details. Open flames (like for a BBQ) require additional approval.
- Using Trademarked Material—if you want to print the University name, logo, or any trademarked images on something you’re selling, you need to get the ok from the Licensing & Trademarks Office. Contact Linda Gilbert at 882-7256, or visit http://licensing.missouri.edu/forms for your Art Approval/Royalty waiver.
Things to Avoid
- Selling something already available on campus
- Selling bottled or prepackaged beverages—homemade stuff like lemonade or hot chocolate is ok
- Raffles, bingo or gambling
- Activities that are dangerous or don’t represent the values of your group or the university
Additional info on fundraising policies can be found in the M-Book. Email ORG with questions about fundraising.
