Funding Process

Funding Overview

To apply for funding, you must first write a budget.  Sample budgets (hyperlink) are available on our website.  The ORG staff is happy to proofread your budget and strongly encourages students to take advantage of that.  Once you submit your budget by the appropriate deadline, it will go to SOAC.  SOAC will evaluate your budget and pass on a recommendation to the Vice-Chancellor Scroggs for the final word.  Your group will be notified of your allocation a week after the budget deadline, and you will have opportunity to appeal.  See deadlines for more info on the budgeting timeframe.

What kind of funding is available?

There are three types of budgets:

  • General Expense—for general resources, like copies and miscellaneous supplies
  • Travel—for a trip your group wants to take to conferences, competitions, or events
  • Honorarium—for bringing guest speakers and performers to campus, or to request Venture Out funds
  • Organization Resource Group

The Organization Resource Group is a viewpoint-neutral group of students dedicated to ushering student organizations through the recognition process, educating student leaders about University policies and resources, consulting organizations on how to meet their goals, and providing financial assistance though the student activity fee for student organizations.
